Apple disabling Intel Atom support in upcoming release of Snow Leopard update

This mainly pertains to those who use “hackintosh” systems like regular netbooks with OS X installed onto them.  It appears that Apple may be doing away with Intel Atom support.  Atom is the code name for the processor which powers all of the netbooks that use Intel chipsets.

The downside to this is that if Apple is truly indeed removing support for the Atom chip, you won’t be able to properly run OS X anymore.  The move would be kind of crucial for this hackintosh market/community.  It would essentially leave those who want to run OS X running an older, more outdated version.  It appears that you would be stuck with running 10.6.1 as opposed to going up to any later updates.
