I'm reluctant that the Pit bull needs a particular type of proprietor...these dogs, no matter how 'supporting' nevertheless have teeth, are nevertheless creatures with no moral concepts and once they DO bite, won't allow go. As in all creatures...some often be much more suseptable to instinctual behavior and time and time once again, this breed tends to do just that.

haya,
Double and Triple check that you've gone to the correct HKEY String!
It's very easy to lose track of where you're at inthe Registery. Once you're positive that you are in the right place, and if you still find the Upper and/or Lower filters aren't there, leave the Registery becuase this fix won't fix your problem!

Here again is the string you need to follow:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

1. First you can then try a System Restore back to a date before the problem started. If this doesn't work try the next step.

2. You may have to do and Uninstall and Reinstall of your CD/DVD-ROM. I find a total removal of the Drive in the uninstall works the best (take the drive out of the computer). Once you've removed the drive boot into Windows, then Shut Down the computer again. Reinstall the drive, boot into Windows again. Let Windows set up the drive for you. Reboot if Windows tells you to! Check for you drive in My Computer, if it's there go to the Registery and Delete your Upper and Lower Filters before it can cause you a problem again. If this doen't work you may need to go to the extreme.

3. This is a last resort. Reinstall Windows! Again, go into the registery and delete the uper and lower filters.

Fredi,
What Burning software do you use? Are you using Windows Buring? If you're using Windows try what ever software you computer or CD/DVD-ROM came with (Nero, Easy CD Creator, Sony Software etc...). If you are already using one of these try burning with the Windows Burning Software.

Have you tried using a CD-RW or a DVD-RW? What the computer is asking for is a CD-RW and these are Re-Writable disks and are not the normal CD-R or DVD-R disks. If you haven't tried one of these disks, give one a try.

Finally, yes you should be able to use a Flash Drive to copy your Files, Pictures, Music, etc...

Hi, I am having the same problem with Acrobat 9.3.1 on several machines at work, I'm the network engineer for the company. I've found that uninstalling and reinstalling seems to magically repair the issue. I've had random issues like this with Acrobat for years now, Adobe's quality control is rubbish.

OK this is just a stupidity question I think. I want to download data to a disk...Memorex CD-RM......I am using the D:/ drive and when I try it asks me to insert a writeable CD...I install the brand new CD....and it is not recognizing the CD....it repeats, "install a writeable CD......it is as if there is nothing in the drive. This happens in both Vista and XP...Laptop and Home Computer. I have now broken by CD-ROM drive in my home computer. Can I download the data on a USB Flash Drive still?

Allan,
I posted the Fix Again for people still having trouble Fixing the Disappearing CD/DVD drives! That same post also contains suggestions from Balty about fixing this problem if the Fix doesn't work. Please Read On!

It's obvious that you didn't notice my System Restore comment was directed to 2spoons and not to people with the disappearing CD/DVD dirves. The CD/DVD fix won't work for 2spoons problem, his/her CD/DVD drive hasn't disappeared ( CD/DVD still shows up in My Computer). For some reason it stopped reading CD's! This is a totally different problem and the Disappearing CD/DVD Fix won't work to fix this problem, thus the System Restore Comment!

Make sure to read 2spoons post, it's just above my post about doing the System Restore. Yes, geniuses can sometimes read :-)
