64-bit operating system virus and antispyware protection for Windows XP, Vista and 7
I’m disappointed with the lack of proper cleaning tools for 64-bit versions of Windows. There are so many great tools to use to clean out spyware and virus infections like ComboFix and SDFix. But unfortunately, they are not compatible with 64-bit operating systems. It is more and more common now that 64-bit OSs such as Vista 64-bit are being bundled and sold on almost all new laptops that come from stores like Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot, etc.
As you all know, I work on computers for a living so I am here removing viruses and spyware day in and day out. But I do not have any worthy tools to help me with my virus and spyware removal on systems that come with Windows Vista 64-bit or even XP 64-bit.
Right now the only tools that I know for a fact that are compatible with the 64-bit operating systems are: Avast Antivirus and SuperAntiSpyware. I think Malwarebyte’s Anti-Malware program works but it may be a little buggy.
I’ll try to update this post if I come across any great tools that can be used to remove spyware from a 64-bit OS. Until then, let’s hope that the makers of all these great tools will somehow come up with a way and release 64-bit compatible programs.
I use trend micro security with vista 64-bit seems to work great but no luck with it working on windows 7
NOD32 and Spy Sweeper both work great on Vista 64 bit and have for several months. However, Spy Sweeper does not work on Win 7
SuperAntiSpyware is usually detected as a rogue spyware program itself, so I don`t bother with that one myself just incase like.
I`m using windows 7 as a main OS for a bit. I use AVG free as my anti virus and am happy to use Windows Defender for spyware, but would like to use a better third party product.
There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in Features also.

Nice one Dave, but Malwarebytes ask for cash for their real time scanner. Plus, its a bit slow. Since my last post I`ve found a real gem in Avira Premium. Much better than AVG and Norton put together. And at only £14 a year, not bad value for money. I also use Iobit Security 360 for their free real time guard and Asquared FREE for removal. I find Asquared a little more user friendly and thorough than malwarebytes offering. Now using Windows 7 64 bit as my main OS and loving every bit. Business has picked up too, hence the name change.
