Hard to find fixes for those done gone stubborn problems you encounter in every day tech life.

It’s very easy to fix although it does entail going into the registry and changing one or two things.
So I’m working on this Vista computer and it cannot get online. I go into a command prompt and type /ipconfig. I see it’s pulling up and automatic IP address, the 169.x.x.x variant and realize hmm, something’s up. Immediately I go to services.msc to check and see if DHCP is enabled. It’s not. I go to start it, bam, error message indicating a problem has occurred and that access is being denied. NOOOOOOOOO. I searched long and hard for a remedy but came up short. I found a few pages from Microsoft that indicates it is a problem with permissions in the registry. I tried their fix, no luck.
I gave up on my work and just wiped it out and reinstalled Windows. I’m hoping to start this post and get feedback from anyone who has gotten stuck on this and found an actual solution. I know there are others out there who are probably going to come across this and if we can all put our heads together to find a solution, that’s the best part of it all.
It seems to possibly be related to removing spyware and viruses but don’t quote me on that. It could also very well be related to registry permissions. If that’s the case, we have to figure out which registry key or keys are being affected.

I’m not sure if you noticed but if you already run Kaspersky and Newsleecher in conjunction with each other, you will soon find an annoying problem. That problem is Kaspersky scanning every single file that’s coming through. This could mean hundreds of files a minute and we all know that scanning that many files at once is a very time consuming and process consuming task.
So, here’s a nice guide on how to fix this problem by telling Kaspersky to not look at the network traffic that Newsleecher is using.
So I bought myself one of the new Mac Books. I will take some pics to share with everyone here. It’s a nice piece of hardware. I had a hard time deciding between the Mac Book or the new Dell Studio laptop. I saw the price of $1500.00 for the Studio and said to myself, hmmm, that’s about the same price of the new Mac Book. I thought about it long and hard and realized that I could easily put Windows XP onto the new Mac Book anyway. That sealed the deal and so I went on my trek to pick up the new Mac Book.
So far, so good. Like I said, it’s a great piece of hardware, very well built. I’m afraid of getting the outer casing scratched. I’m definitely going to invest in Apple Care and a nice case to go along with it. I’m also going to pick up iWorks 08 on my next pay day. That seems to be a better value than going with Microsoft Office 2008. I have read the reviews and it seems Office 2008 for Mac just plain out right sucks.
I’ll keep you posted and will update this post with pictures of the new hardware.
