w70n51.sys blue screen while using wireless connection

Okay guys, I found me a good one. The file mentioned in the title, w70n51.sys is driver for an Intel wireless card. The card can be found on many makes and models of laptops. So far I’ve confirmed two Dells and one Sony to be affected by this problem. The symptom is that when you get online using your wireless card, blue screens occur. I looked through all three computer’s dump files and found that w70n51.sys is a nasty little bugger and has been causing problems for a lot of people. My only solution would be to update the driver if you can find one. Otherwise I’m still researching it and once I figure something out I will definitely let you all know.

    Hi Ryan

I got the same problem on a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook. Have you found any solution about the problem?
I already reinstalled windows completely, but it didn’t help…

Same issue with 3 IBM R50 Thinkpads at IBM, no solution at internet or technical support, even restoring the factory image the laps crashed, so I had to use anothe image from T60. Using either known solution (chkdsk, console, save mode, etc) has the same result, going into checkdisk and then crashes.

    Greetings.

Check your wireless card. Should be a 2100 or 2200 on your machine.
Update drivers to latest INTEL versions for your card and you should be ok.

HP/Compaq nc8000.I used to have that problem on my laptop. Yes, it is about the driver for the wireless intel card. The problem occurs always after hibernation. I’va fixed the problem = uninstall the wifi card copletely and then install the newest driver. It was ok for couple weeks. After only 1 hibernation everything came back!
So again uninstall the the wireless card and install it again and it is fine.Blue screen is not coming back. What I have noticed in my system is that, alway after my laptop hibernates -the system is changing the IRQ settings. In my case it is being changed into 10- then I got the blue screen right away! After driver’s reinstalation the IRQ is always set to 11, and there was no problem with the blue screen again. My friend used to have the same problem after hibernations. It is defninetely some problem with that memory acces settings. Take care!

I got the same problem on my Toshiba Tecra notebook (in fact it BSOD right as I typed this) I think its the wireless Intel chip as well, the nasty bugger began giving problems only after 3 years of use. blue screen of death every 30 mins. I retighted all loose screws found one on the hard disk, hope it helps. Will try the fix and keep posted.
