If you ever have to take this laptop apart, I’ll give you the low down on how to get to the innards. In order to remove the hard drive, you have to take the entire top portion of the case off.
We’ll start with removing the keyboard. You’ll have to remove two screws from the bottom of the laptop. The screws will have an arrow pointing downwards. That is how you know which two are holding the keyboard in.
After you remove those two Phillip screws, you’re going to want to look at the bottom of the keyboard area. There are three clips that will be holding the keyboard down. Take a small flathead screwdriver and push those little clips in. You’ll now be able to grab the keyboard and pull it up.
From here, there are two small silver Phillip screws that you must remove, you will see exactly what I’m talking about once the keyboard is flipped up.
After removing those two silver screws, you’ll now have to turn the laptop over. You’re going to have to remove all the screws that are on the underside of the laptop. The screws have a rounded top. There are also about three or four flat Phillips screws that are at the very top. Those will also have to be removed in order for you to remove the top case to get to the hard drive. Once all screws have been removed, gently with your fingers, pull up on the housing/casing. The casing should easily come off.
If it isn’t easily coming off, don’t force it. It’s quite possible you have not removed all the screws. Double check to make sure you’ve removed ALL screws before attempting to pull off the casing again. Once you can easily pull it up and off you now have access to everything on the inside. You will have access to reseating the processor, removing the heatsink as well as changing out the second memory dimm and removing the hard drive.
