k2 beta layout

I removed it and changed it back to the default Kubrick layout as the k2 layout made everything bunched together.  In the end, I’ll stick with what works.  Today is the last day of the year and in some places, it’s already the New Year.  I’m happy and this year has come and almost have passed.  It looks to be a bright year ahead with many future endeavors.  I hope everyone stays safe and have a happy New Year!

New years and a new layout

I’m using the k2 WordPress theme which is in its beta 2 stages.  I hope you like it.  Anyhow, it’s almost the new year and we’re just two days away.  I completed whatever work I could today as it is the end of the pay period.  I need to start busting my ass more or I need to look for another job that will pay me just a tad bit more than what I’m making now.  Today I encountered some problems with Microsoft Anti-Spyware.  MSAS does not like beng uninstalled from another user’s account.  What happend was I installed MSAS from an admin’s account.  Went into another admin’s account and started to have problems.  The spyware I removed some how damaged the registry of the client’s user accounts.  I kept getting an error that popped up every time I logged into these specific accounts.  I finally figured out that the errors were related to MSAS.  From there I had to go into the user account’s registry and chang the permissions on quite a number of keys.  I finally got it fixed and in the end I had to uninstall it using the original account I had installed it with and then reinstall it again using that same account.  If you run into this issue, just e-mail me, I’ll be more than happy to help you out.

Newsgroups

I just found out and how to use newsgroups.  Man, I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun I’m having.  I am going to have a blast.  You should all know what I’m talking about, if you don’t, oh well.  Newsgroups ftw!  Newsleecher, and a Newzbin account = downloaded 24/7 goodness.

Fireworks and Hawaii

If you didn’t already know, fireworks in Hawaii is legal but only the popping/playing of novelties.  Novelties are considered things like sparklers, and morning glories.  Nothing like real Red Devil firecrackers.  In order to pop those, you need a permit which cost $25.00 and it allows you to purchase 5,000 firecrackers (brick).  I believe in the year 2000, there were no need for permits in order to buy firecrackers.  You could walk in to say Longs Drugs and buy a 100,000 for probably around $25.00.  I truly miss those days.  Popping firecrackers is tradition in Hawaii.  Many people argue that the smoke created causes a really big hassle for those who suffer from asthma.  I can see where they’re coming from but even with the permit law in effect, it’s just as smokey as when there was no permit in effect.

Also in Hawaii shells and m80s etc are all illegal.  Any type of aerial firework is illegal.  Reason is they say it causes many house/brush fires.  There is a thriving black market for them here however after 9/11 it has become very hard to come across lists.  I remember prior to the year 2000, getting fireworks was very easy and cheap.  I guess I will just have to live with the memories of those days.  I hope you all have a happy new year and enjoy yourselves.

Merry Christmas!

I am hoping you are celebrating your Christmas with your family and friends.  It is still Christmas eve here but in another half hour it will be Christmas day.  I’m happy to say that I will be celebrating with family and friends.  I did have to go in to work today though.  No random fixes today, it was a really lazy day.  I got to finish reading an awesome book entitled “Bolohead Row” by Chris McKinney, author of The Tattoo.  I will have a thorough book review up in a few days.  This book is amazing!  Anyway, enjoy your Christmas and have a safe one!

New Western Digital Raptor coming January

According to this website, a new WD Raptor is coming.  How big is probably your first thought.  Well, sifting through the translation since it was a non-English site, I found that it will be a 150GB 10,000RPM SATA2 hard drive.  It’s probably going to debut around $300-$350.00 for the hard drive.  But hey, two of them in Raid 1 would be nice… or if you’re a dare devil put it into Raid 0 for no redundency.  We’ll have to wait and see for more reviews.

So it’s almost the new year

What do you have planned?  I’ve had this site open just a little over five months now.  Every month the traffic has indeed been increasing, mainly by word of mouth.  I’m thankful for each and every one of you who stop by to check out my random fixes and even those who just come back to read what is going on in my life or what I’m posting.  I don’t know exactly what’s going on next year but I do know that school is going to continue, work is going to continue, and I am going to definately try to find a better job.  I will make one year at my current job in April and once I get that behind me, I will be content and I will attempt to look for better employment.  It’s not that I don’t like my job, I love it.  It’s the pay and it could be a little higher but with that said, I will leave it at that.  I think it will be a big year for micro processors, i.e. Intel and AMD.  Intel’s new version of their dual core CPU should be coming out.  AMD’s socket AM2 will be comg out which will incorporate DDR2 memory.  G71 or G72 from nVidia and then ATi’s new GPU chipset should be out early next year.  Things are definately heating up and the best is yet to come.  I feel I didn’t accomplish a lot this year, I don’t know why but I just feel that way.  I hope to accomplish much more next year and I hope to have a better year than this one.  Anyhow, thanks for reading and enjoy.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

3007WFP 30″ Dell wide screen LCD post poned until January 5th

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Dell 30″ monitor was supposed to go on sale today, December 21, 2005 within North America.  This link, straight from Dells site, confirms the monitor but says it won’t be on sale until January 5th which is about two weeks away.  Here’s a picture of the monitor from Dell’s website if you can’t get to it since it’s getting hammered.

Re-signed up for Netflix.com again

For some reason every so many months after I watch all the new releases and the releases are far and few between I cancel my Netflix account.  I haven’t had it open for a few months now.  However, within that few months a crap load of movies came out for rent.  I re-signed up and put a few movies into my queue.  I can’t wait.  Netflix is excellent for people like myself where I don’t enjoy watching the movie over and over again so I can just rent it, watch it and be done with it.

Rotateq, vaccine for gastroenteritis

Rotateq is actually in trials as a vaccine for gastroenteritis which is what I’m currently stuck with as I type this.  I did not go in to work again for the second day in a row.  It’s a very contageous virus that spreads very quickly if you are in close quarters with an infected person.  It sucks and it is debilitating to the point where you can’t even go to work.  At least with a regular cough and runny nose you can still go into work and get work done.  Anyhow, here’s a link to the article.
